MEDIA RELEASE – JULY 8, 2014
July 10 Young Artists’ Painting Class at 29 Palms Art Gallery
This Thursday July 10, the 29 Palms Art Gallery will offer its second of three Youth Summer Arts Programs – a Young Artists’ Painting Class with local artist Tanner McGuire. The two-hour classes are being offered at 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
McGuire received his BA in Studio Art and Design from Cal State San Bernardino and previously exhibited with The Red Arrow Gallery in Joshua Tree. He is most recognized for his experimental painting and will be working with the kids to explore texture, colors, layers, mark-making, and gestures. The artist will provide short lessons on art principles, show samples, offer demonstrations, and work with the children to develop their own paintings. The gallery will provide stretched canvases, paints and brushes, and the kids will have the opportunity to interact with other participants and share their paintings.
Young Artists’ Classes are created for students 5 to 17 years old, but parents are welcome to bring younger children at their discretion. Cost is $5.00 per class per child. All materials are provided by the Gallery. Class sizes are limited. If you are interested, please secure your spot by contacting Rhonda Lane Coleman at email@example.com.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided. The Gift Shop will be open. Kids may sign up for a special Student Membership Card that provides discounts to the gift shop and future classes.
The Youth Summer Arts Program is made possible in part by grants from the Public Arts Advisory Committee of the City of Twentynine Palms and the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Officers’ Spouses’ Club,
