This special two-hour evening class (4 to 6 p.m.) inside the gallery will be taught by Professor Barbara Drucker of UCLA. Materials provided by the gallery. (Parents welcome, too).

•MATTING AND FRAMING WORKSHOP by Gallery Artists
Junior high and high school students are invited to bring the artwork they intend to enter in the annual Students Show to matt and frame. Learn the proper way to prepare works of art (paintings, drawings, collage, photography), to be hung in a gallery. Donated frames and matting will be available. Students may also bring their own materials, for hands-on assistance.

•A SCULPTOR’S VISION—Seeing Four Dimensionally with Eva Montville
This experiential workshop will focus on how we see and how to actualize our vision in 3-dimensional form. Bring a sharp knife for carving (paring, whittling or jack knife), a small rasp or file, an old towel or apron, and gloves. The gallery will provide some tools, balsa wood, and sandpaper.

•DRAWING AND PAINTING FROM LIFE with Janis Commentz
Focus on developing skills, painting and drawing from a costumed live model with special emphasis on proportion, lighting, and personal stylistic development. The class will be taught using acrylic paint; however, students are encouraged to bring the media they are most comfortable using. Stand up easels and table easels are available.

•TWO-DIMENSIONAL DESIGN with Krista Wargo
In this class, taught by a Yucca Valley High School art teacher, students will learn techniques for using oil pastel chalk to create two-dimensional designs and illustrations.

•ABSTRACT PAINTING AND DESIGN with Vann Nguyen
Through this workshop, get to know Vann Nguyen and learn his unique approach to designing and painting. Let him guide you into the mystical world of abstraction.
Saturday, March 21 — Youth 5–16 – 9–11 a.m. — $5
•DRAW AND PAINT DESERT CRITTERS with Chuck Caplinger
Through demonstration and directed hands-on instruction, learn to draw and paint some of your favorite desert critters like the ones in Chuck’s works in the gallery this month. All materials will be supplied by the gallery.
Wednesday, April 8 — Adults – 9 a.m.–12 noon — $10
•PLEIN-AIR WATERCOLOR painting with Esther Shaw
Students will have the opportunity to study specific techniques related to watercolor painting in an outside setting. Those without portable easels may reserve one from the limited supply at the gallery. A supply list will be available at the gallery in March.

•RECYCLED ASSEMBLAGE Earth Day Art with Ed Keesling
In this class, students will learn to apply basic principles of 3-dimensional design to creating assemblage works of art using recycled materials to celebrate national Earth Day.
Tuesday, May 5 — Adults – 9 a.m.–12 noon — $10
•PAINT WITH OIL with Karine Swenson
In this class, students will develop a deeper understanding of Karine’s process of using the formal elements of art and color to create her paintings. A materials list will be avail¬able in the gallery and on the website prior to the class.
Saturday, May 16 — Youth Artists – 9–11 a.m. — $10
•SSUMMER SKETCHBOOK MAKING with Bonnie Brady
In this class, students will be provided with the materials to make a personal sketchbook to use all summer long. Students will also be given a lesson on sketchbook strategies and be invited to enter their sketchbooks in the August youth art show at the gallery.
