29 PALMS ART GALLERY
2010 STUDENT ART SHOW RULES
Judged Exhibition: Jan. 27 to Feb. 21
Reception: Sunday, Feb. 7, 12 to 3 p.m.
ELIGIBILITY
Open to students enrolled in the Morongo Unified School District junior high and high schools. This includes home teaching and private schools in the area.
Artists submitting work automatically agree to abide by all the rules and conditions stated as well as all standing rules. All work must be ORIGINAL [copies of other artists’ work or work produced from photographers’ work is not acceptable] and completed within the last three years. Works must not have been previously entered in any competition at the 29 Palms Art Gallery.
SPECIFICATIONS
Wall exhibit entries must be dry, framed and wired for hanging. Wire must be of sufficient gauge for the weight of the work. Work must be secured in a frame or appropriately presented. Including the frame, works must not exceed 72 inches in any direction, nor be smaller than 5x7, excluding frame. [Sawtooth, triangular or other methods of hanging will NOT be accepted. Tape of any kind is NOT acceptable for hanging work.] Ceramics and sculpture will be accepted.
PREPARATION
Each wall entry must have on the upper, right back corner: Title, Medium, Sale Price [or "NFS"], Artist's Name, Age, Grade, and School [address and phone optional]. Other works must have the same information affixed appropriately to the work.
THREE AWARD CATEGORIES
- Painting: acrylic, gouache, oil, pastel, and watercolor
- Drawing: charcoal, crayon, graphite, pen & ink, markers, and pencil
- All other: assemblage, ceramic, collage, collograph, mixed media, photography, printmaking, and sculpture
* Each category will have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention selections.
SALES
The work may be for sale. A 10% donation is requested on all works sold.
DELIVERY AND PICK UP
Hand deliver to the 29 Palms Art Gallery at 74055 Cottonwood Drive, off National Park Drive, Twentynine Palms, on Monday, January 25 between 9:00-11:30 a.m., or call the Gallery at 760-367-7819 for special arrangements to deliver on Sunday, January 24. Pick up will be on Monday, February 25 between 9:00-11:30 a.m. Teachers unable to meet this schedule may contact the Gallery for options.
RECEPTION
A Pizza Reception, including awards presentation for the artists, will be held at the Gallery on Sunday, February 7 from 12:00-3:00 pm. All students, families, friends, and the public are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
