29 PALMS ART GALLERY
2012 STUDENT ART SHOW RULES
Judged Exhibition: Feb. 1 to 26
Reception: Sunday, Feb. 5, 12 to 3 p.m.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to students enrolled in the Morongo School district junior high and high schools. This includes home teaching and private schools in the area.  Artists submitting work automatically agree to abide by all the rules and conditions stated as well as all standing rules. All work must be ORIGINAL [copies of other artist's work or work produced from photographer's work must be altered by 20% or more] and completed within the last three years. Copied works must be “attributed to” or “after” the original work or artist. 
Works MUST NOT have been previously entered in any competition at the 29 Palms Art Gallery. Each student is limited to 3 pieces total.

THREE AWARD CATEGORIES

Painting: acrylic, gauche, oil, pastel, and watercolor

Drawing: charcoal, crayon, graphite, pen & ink, and pencil.

All other: assemblage, ceramic, collage, collograph, digital art, mixed media, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.

- A $500 Ada Bigler Scholarship award will go to a senior for outstanding work.

RECEPTION
A Reception for the artists will be held at the Gallery on Sunday, February 5th from 12:00-3:00 pm. All students, families, friends, and the public are invited to attend. Refreshments will also be served.

SALES
We highly encourage all art work to be for sale. A 10% donation is requested on all works sold.

DELIVERY AND PICK UP
Hand deliver to the 29 Palms Art Gallery at 74055 Cottonwood Drive on Saturday, January 28, or Sunday, January 29, from 12-3 pm or on Monday, January 30, between 9:00-11:30 am only. Pick up will be on Monday, February 27, between 9:00-11:30 am. Teachers unable to meet this schedule must call ahead for other options.

SPECIFICATIONS
Two dimensional work must be framed and wired for hanging. Work must be secured in a frame or appropriately presented. Including the frame, works must not exceed 72 inches in any direction, nor be smaller than 5x7, excluding frame. Paintings may be unframed if the edges are painted. Our hanging system is only for wire.

PREPARATION
Each entry must have information affixed appropriately to the work: Title, Medium, Sale Price [or "NFS"], Artist's Name, Age, Grade, and School [address and phone optional]. Each teacher is responsible for filling out a gallery form for the works submitted. A full inventory of works left with the gallery needs to be in digital form and can be emailed to:

The 29 Palms Art Gallery invites all 7 – 12 grade students to enter up to 3 works of art in the Annual Students’ Art Show at our gallery. The show is scheduled to run from February 1 to 26. The opening reception will be Sunday, February 5, between 12 and 3 pm.

Ribbons and cash awards will be presented at 12:30 at the reception, including a $500 Ada Bigler award to a graduating senior, and a California Art Education Association membership to one teacher of a student whose work demonstrates the highest quality student work in the basin. Teachers who are members of the California Art Education Association are eligible to submit several student works in the Southern Area show in Pasadena in April.

Please note that we are offering a mat and framing workshop for students from 9:00 - 11:30 AM, Saturday, January 14, at the Gallery. The fee is $5.00, however all materials will be provided, as well as a short lesson on framing composition. Please have students call ahead to reserve space in the workshop: 760-367-7819
