Welcome to 29 Palms Art Gallery in Twentynine Palms, California, located since 1963 in a historic adobe next to the Oasis of Mara, 29 Palms Inn, Old Schoolhouse Museum, and Joshua Tree National Park Headquarters & Oasis Visitor Center. The gallery is owned and operated by the Twentynine Palms Artists’ Guild, the oldest arts organization in the Joshua Tree Gateway Communities, founded in 1951-52 by a group of prominent desert artists, including famed painter John Hilton. The gallery’s adobe building was originally built in 1936 as a desert home for author Tom Hopkins, of western pulp fiction fame. Today, 29 Palms Art Gallery features monthly art shows and receptions from September to June and is open Wednesday through Sunday 12 to 3 p.m.; with a Summer Show in June, July, August (weekends only, Friday-Saturday-Sunday 12 to 3 p.m.); plus weekly paint outs, judged exhibitions, seasonal events and fund-raisers, and art classes for adults and young artists. The Gift Shop features Southwestern jewelry, gifts, books, and desert apparel.
